Wichita Falls Farmers Market Association hosts First Responders Day

by Clarence Jones

The Wichita Falls Farmers Market Association recently held a special event to honor the first responders in their community. On Saturday, September 16, 2023, the association organized a First Responders Day at the market, dedicated to showing appreciation for the men and women who protect and save lives.

The event was a great success, with the Wichita Falls Fire and Police Departments, as well as the Wichita County Sheriff’s Office, bringing out their vehicles for attendees to explore and learn about. This provided a unique opportunity for both children and adults to see the equipment and vehicles used by these brave first responders up close.

One of the highlights of the day was the presence of Jody Bullard, a recent graduate of the Wichita Falls Fire Academy. Bullard, who is now a firefighter, expressed his joy in being able to make children smile through events like this First Responders Day. He spoke about his love for his job and how fulfilling it is to be able to serve the community in such a meaningful way.

“It’s awesome. You know, I mean, it’s good for everybody, and it really puts a smile on kids’ faces, and that’s what it’s all about. I love my job and I wouldn’t trade it for anything, and I always wanted to do it when I was a kid. Glad I finally got it done and got hired on, doing what I love doing,” said Bullard.

The event not only allowed the community to express their gratitude towards first responders but also gave them an opportunity to interact with these heroes and learn more about their work. It is events like these that help build a stronger bond between the community and these essential workers who dedicate their lives to keeping everyone safe.

The Wichita Falls Farmers Market Association has always been at the forefront of community-oriented events, aiming to create a sense of togetherness and appreciation. By organizing events like the First Responders Day, they not only contribute to the welfare of the community but also inspire others to appreciate and support those who protect and serve.
