A lavish waterfront home in Fort Lauderdale’s Harbor Beach enclave has sold for a staggering $30 million, making it Broward County’s most expensive real estate transaction this year. The sale also set a new square footage price record for the area, at $3,174 per square foot. However, it falls just short of the record for the highest price ever paid for a home in the region.
The buyer of the Harbor Beach property remains unknown, but records show that the seller is Ronald Leonhardt Jr., the founder, president, and CEO of CrossCountry Mortgage. Leonhardt purchased the property from hotelier Mikhail Avrutin for $23 million just over two years ago.
Designed by Randall Stofft Architects and built by Sarkela Corp., the mansion was completed in 2021 on a third of an acre, with 120 feet of water frontage on the Intracoastal Waterway. The stunning property boasts six bedrooms, nine bathrooms, and almost 9,500 square feet of living space across two levels.
Inside, the home features Duchateau oak floors, Terzani light fixtures, and walls of glass that offer picturesque water and skyline views. The centerpiece of the living area is a massive marble fireplace, complemented by a glassy wine display capable of holding 200 bottles. Other amenities include a wet bar-equipped game room/lounge, a roof deck, and a dock large enough to accommodate a mega-yacht.
The kitchen is a chef’s dream, equipped with Italian cabinetry, top-tier appliances, and an eat-in island. There is also a breakfast nook and an additional prep kitchen. Upstairs, the master retreat boasts dual closets and baths, a fireside sitting area, and a balcony. One of the master baths features a large oval soaking tub with a view.
Outside, the property features a covered terrace for al fresco entertainment, a barbecue area, and a lap pool with fire features. Additional features of the home include a Crestron smart-home system, a full-home generator, and two attached garages with space for four vehicles. Residents also have access to a private beach club with its own marina.
Ronald Leonhardt Jr. is no stranger to the South Florida real estate market. In 2021, he sold two neighboring waterfront homes on Miami Beach’s Hibiscus Island for an impressive $27 million.
The listing for the Harbor Beach property was held by Chad Carroll of Compass, while the buyer was represented by Brady Thrasher of Re/Max. With its stunning design, luxurious amenities, and prime waterfront location, the Fort Lauderdale mansion has undoubtedly become one of South Florida’s most desirable properties.
