Fountain Hills School Board to hear financial reports

by Paul Morgan

The Fountain Hills Unified School District Governing Board will be meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 4 to discuss two important financial reports. The first report is regarding the fiscal year 2023 Bond and Override, while the second report is focused on the fiscal year 2023 Annual Financial Report (AFR).

During the meeting, Tyler Moore, a consultant with True Professionals, LLC, will lead the financial presentations. He will provide a breakdown of how the voter-approved 2021 15% Maintenance and Operations (M&O) override has been used. Additionally, Moore will discuss the last bond spending report and present the proposed spending plan for the 2023 bond proposal.

Alicia Mena, FHUSD’s director of finance, will also join Moore to present the 2023 AFR to the board. They will explain the 2023 classroom spending report, average daily membership, and various sources of funding outlined in the AFR.

By the end of the meeting, the board will vote on the AFR. In addition, they will also vote on updated extracurricular fees, a Sister Cities Club trip to the Grand Canyon, and whether to authorize certain types of fundraisers.

The next board meeting will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 18 at the FHUSD Learning Center. It is important to note that all board meetings are livestreamed and recorded on the FHUSD YouTube channel.

Overall, these financial reports and decisions made by the board will have a significant impact on the future of the Fountain Hills Unified School District. It is crucial for stakeholders to stay informed and engaged with the district’s financial matters.
