Conway Resident Announces Candidacy as Republican for House District 56
Kim Slaughter, a resident and business owner in Conway, Arkansas, has recently declared her candidacy as a Republican for House District 56 in Faulkner County. Slaughter aims to bring new leadership and representation to the district, expressing concerns over the current State Representative’s failure to align with the values of the community.
In her announcement, Slaughter emphasized the need for a representative who truly reflects the district’s values and acts in accordance with the wishes of the residents. She criticized Rep. Steve Magie for his voting record, claiming that he consistently voted against key conservative issues. Slaughter cited instances where Magie voted against protecting unborn lives, combating chemical castration of children, upholding women’s sports from biological males, defending religious liberty, and safeguarding children from explicit material in public libraries.
Furthermore, Slaughter criticized Magie for not even showing up to vote during times of economic challenges, such as high inflation, when he could have potentially supported tax cuts. She argued that the people of District 56 deserve better representation and someone who will prioritize their concerns.
Slaughter highlighted her commitment to fundamental conservative values, outlining her platform and vision for the district. She emphasized her unwavering support for pro-life policies, defending the Second Amendment rights of constituents, and standing against what she described as the “woke LGBTQ agenda” when it comes to protecting children. Slaughter also pledged to advocate for lower taxes, reducing government waste, and fighting for the conservative Arkansas values embedded within the community.
Beyond her political aspirations, Slaughter boasts a background of community involvement and entrepreneurship. She is the owner of Toad Suck Mini Golf and Blue Focus Marketing in Conway. Slaughter is also the director and founder of Faulkner County Paw Friends, an organization dedicated to serving the future Faulkner County Animal Shelter. She has actively volunteered and advocated for various organizations, including Harbor Home, Bethlehem House, CASA, and Deliver Hope.
Recognizing her contributions to the local business community, the Conway Area Chamber of Commerce awarded Slaughter the Women in Business Award in 2017. Additionally, she participated in the Conway Area Leadership Institute in 2018. Slaughter and her husband, John, reside in Conway and are proud owners of four chihuahuas. Together, they attend New Life Pentecostal Church in Vilonia.
Kim Slaughter’s candidacy brings forth a fresh opportunity for the people of House District 56 to choose a representative who not only holds strong conservative values but will actively fight for their interests. With her dedication to the community and commitment to conservative principles, Slaughter aims to be a formidable force against the Biden-Harris agenda from Washington. As the campaign progresses, it will be interesting to see how her platform resonates with the voters of District 56 and whether she can secure their support in the upcoming election.
