5in1 Rocker Bassinet recalled over risks of suffocation, strangulation

by Mark Mendoza

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has issued a warning to consumers who have purchased 5in1 Rocker Bassinets, urging them to immediately stop using the product due to potential safety hazards. The bassinets, imported by Rev Grace Import, Inc. of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, do not meet the safety requirements set by the CPSC’s Infant Sleep Products Rule.

According to the CPSC, the bassinets pose a risk of suffocation to infants and also present a fall hazard. These safety concerns are a result of the bassinets not meeting the required markings, labeling, and instructions, as well as lacking a tracking label on the package that contains important information like the date of manufacture.

The 5in1 Rocker Bassinets were sold online, including on Walmart.com and other websites. They are identifiable by their green and gray color schemes, and the packaging includes specific markings such as “Ya.Ya.Ya, 5IN1, UPC Code 09331849600139, 01 Rock Sleeper, 02 Dream Centre, 03 Cozy Seat, 04 Travel Bassinet, 05 Rock & Play, Made in China, and Age 1-36 months.”

Due to the serious safety concerns, the CPSC is advising that anyone who owns one of these bassinets disassemble and dispose of it immediately. Although the ruling regarding infant sleep products only applies to those manufactured after June 23, 2022, the CPSC is urging companies to stop selling noncompliant products that were produced before that date.

The concerning aspect of this situation is the lack of cooperation from the company responsible for distributing the bassinets. Rev Grace Import, Inc. has not been cooperating with the recall efforts and has not provided any remedy or assistance to those who have purchased the potentially dangerous product.

In addition to the warning about the 5in1 Rocker Bassinets, the CPSC is also reminding parents to follow safe sleep practices for infants. It is recommended that infants sleep on firm, flat surfaces in a crib, bassinet, or play yard without blankets, pillows, padded crib bumpers, or stuffed animals, except for a fitted sheet. It is crucial for infants to always be placed on their backs for sleep and to be moved to a safe sleep environment if they fall asleep in an inclined or upright position.

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that parents sleep in the same room as their infants for the first six months but should not cosleep or bedshare with them.

If there are any incidents of injury or defect related to the 5in1 Rocker Bassinet, consumers are encouraged to report them to the CPSC through their website at www.SaferProducts.gov.

It is important for consumers to take this warning seriously and ensure the safety of their infants by discontinuing the use of the 5in1 Rocker Bassinet if they own one. Additionally, the lack of cooperation from the distributing company raises concerns about their commitment to consumer safety and highlights the importance of thorough research and consideration before purchasing infant products.
